My intention with the 2007 blog post based on Noree's 2008 calendar was to replace the photos with better res versions, but it became too complicated and I couldn't find most of them.
In discussion with Narra, we intend to focus on past Christmas memories for the next couple of weeks as Noree outlines and gathers material for a printed Christmas book. Next week for me: tweek the Backwards Journal format and the 1980s European trip. For Narra: post the Geisinger quote letters to the blog.
We'll be using the blog as a gathering place for content to be printed and encourage each family to find a spot to collect albums, photo books and copies of our printed books on Lola, Grandma Norma, Recipes, Animal Stories, Travel, Weddings, etc.
We also hope to engage more family members on the blog.
Maya and Greg should post photos here as well as on BGTS, even with just sort, descriptive comments.
Jeleen, our director and producer, could add a Family Food tag to attract Raki's little cooking and dining clips.
Everybody can post items from the past as well. Eventually, I hope to make the Backwards Journal a repository for my few childhood and school artifacts, random college memories and student newspaper contributions, Peace Corps letters home, published articles across 40-plus years as a journalist, newspaper columns, letters to friends, and other stuff ... as time goes by.
Much of what Noree and I have kept is likely to be tossed out with our ultimate departures. But a lot of it has been digitalized (scanned) with year-month-day as the file names, so organization will not be as impossible as it may appear.
Not everything I've done has been dumb or without purpose.
This is great, Papa! I agree with everything already digitized we are in good shape!! If all of those books that Mommy has put together are already in a digital format, we should definitely upload them! Does she even have the animal stories one she did for my vet school graduation??
One thing to make accessing blog content easier will be for everyind to remember to tag their entries with Categories. That way, if you need to pull all entires related to Christmas, for example, you can easily do that without scrolling.
I really appreciate this recent effort and focus on getting stuff on here! Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help, like schedule Study Hall/Help Desk sessions or some video tutelage.
